Residential Led Redevelopment of Toolstation
Progress Planning was appointed to provide both planning and architectural services for the comprehensive residential-led redevelopment of the former Toolstation site, located on the edge of New Malden’s district centre within the administrative boundary of The Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.
The scheme proposes 20 new homes, comprising 16 contemporary flats and 4 urban houses, arranged around a well-considered courtyard layout. Our approach addressed key issues including the loss of an employment-generating use, viability in relation to affordable housing, and optimising design within the site constraints.
We engaged proactively with the local authority, undertaking two rounds of pre-application submissions and presenting the scheme to the Design Review Panel. This collaborative process added significant value, refining the proposal into a high-quality urban housing development that Progress is exceptionally proud to have delivered.
